Facilitation -- Open Space Facilitation

Great things have happened in Open Space. After holding Open Spaces, Boeing has designed a better airplane door. Rockport has introduced a whole new line of shoes. Palestinians and Israelis have gathered to experience peacemaking. Young people and adults have been able to fully listen to each other. Chemists have designed new polymers. Union representatives, non-union workers and government representatives have been able to move together beyond passionate differences and into co-creating programs. Tribal leaders and government representatives have been able to co-create land use programs.

Any Open Space facilitator can help you find out if this method is perfect for your situation, community or organization. If it is a fit, then you will find the group will be reinvigorated, using more of their collective intelligence and experiences, and able to work with an appreciation for their differing abilities and perspectives.

Plus, you do not have to be a 'facilitator'-type to convene people in Open Space. The method is intentionally not owned, you can learn it yourself by reading a book, and you do not need any certification or certain training to lead a group in Open Space -- although many find that they feel more ready to do Open Space after enhancing their learning through experiential workshops with others. Learning workshops are available in many places around the world, and there is a global learning community of Open Space facilitators happy to help you in practically any language. At the time of this writing Open Space has been used in over 70 countries and in many cultures and situations.

Feel free to explore this website to see materials, find out about learning workshops, and learn more about the method; and contact me and other Open Space facilitators -- we will be happy to support your learning, your work, and your hosting of an Open Space gathering in your own organization or community.
