Other Signs

Over computer area - simple how-to notes for non-technical people plus computer area hours

The following signs can be smaller or larger, but should be visible across room:

Breaking News, set up on a free wall where printed proceedings get posted

B R E A K I N G   N E W S

Letter signs which will be posted around the room to indicate discussion areas both in the main room and in other breakout rooms, plus extra (duplicate) signs for posting out in hallways, etc. with directional arrows, if needed for the larger venues

(Brian Bainbridge uses "SPE 1", "SPE 2", and so on, to indicate extra breakout areas not formally set up in the main room or breakout rooms -- "Some Place Else", such as the garden, or 'let's meet by the blue wall and then we'll decide where to go')

Time-Space Matrix

Some facilitators create a time-space grid or matrix on chart paper as a large sign, with grid lines drawn out and Post-it notes inside each square (a session time and room name or number are written on each posted pre-placed into this grid). This is the method where participants walk up to the matrix sign, pull off a Post-it to affix to their topic sign, and then go to place their topic sign on the totally blank agenda wall.

Here is an example of that large sign on chart paper:

Some facilitators create a time-space matrix along the actual agenda wall -- for example by using masking tape for the grid and signage along the top and side to indicate discussion areas and session times -- with enough space in each square for whatever size sheet of paper you are using for topics to fit inside each of those squares. With this setup participants bypass the step of picking up a Post-it and go directly to the wall to place their topic sign in a time/space box.
